- I have found a pinout for a PowerBook to VGA connection. I tested it on a 3M
- LCD projection screen, which has synchronisation capabilities. It didn't
- work on an ordinary VGA monitor without multisync.
-
- Anyway, the pinout is:
-
- Mac 15 pins, 2 rows:
-
- 2 red 1 red
- 3 composite sync 13 horizontal sync
- 5 green 2 green
- 9 blue 3 blue
- 12 vertical sync 14 vertical sync
- 1 red vid gnd }
- 4 monitor ID bit 1 } { 4 monitor ID bit 2
- 6 green video gnd } { 6,7,8,10,11 ground
- 13 blue video gnd }
-
- If someone has comments on this , or experiences with multisync monitors, I
- would like to hear them.
-
- About the connection protocol:
-
- 1. connect the video cables to the Mac
- 2. plug the Mac in
- 3. start the Mac
-
- The monitor can be switched on and off independently. The important thing
- is that the Mac needs to know which monitor is connected at startup. It
- doesn't really need the monitor, it needs the cable.
-
- When the PowerBook is not plugged in, it refuses to do external video.
-
- Changes about the number of colours etc. can be changed after startup with
- the Monitors control panel. Cahnges take effect after closing the panel.
-
- Video mirroring (set with the PowerBook display control panel) has to be
- correct at startup.
