- I've got a Mac IIcx which had a logic board problem 2 months ago. I
- sent it for repairs and replacing the crystal oscillator fixed the
- problem. When I powered it up the first time, it booted ok but shut
- itself off (not just a crash -- it actually powered down!) after a few
- minutes. I restarted it and didn't have any problems for a couple of
- weeks. However, about 5 times since then it has shut itself off again!
- This usually happens after it's been on for a few hours, but is not at
- all consistent (I've left it on all day with no problems).
-
- I called the company which fixed the logic board and they said it is
- most likely the power supply. If that's true, then why did the problem
- not occur before I had the logic board repaired? Can anyone tell me
- whether this random powering-down might be logic-related?
-
- I guess I should go in and try to clean all the contacts to the power
- supply, etc. I hate to send it for repairs and have to wait for them
- to duplicate the problem, etc...
-
- Thanks,
- Ralph
