  12. This sounds like the same problem I had.  It turned out to be a bad
  13. high voltage capacitor, a common problem according to our computer
  14. repair people.  Apple published a bulletin (to authorized repair
  15. personnel) which said they would reimburse consumers for the repair cost
  16. if the monitor's serial number (or was it the capacitor's? -- its been a
  17. while and I'm a bit fuzzy) fell within a certain range.  I qualified and
  18. Apple reimbursed me for my repair bill.  I think this this program only
  19. lasted for a few months and has since expired.
