-
- Version 1 of FM Pro will let you export data reasonably easily, and FM
- Pro 2.0 is
- even better at it. Quark Xpress can read tab-separated fields easily, but
- it's a
- matter of getting the process to be a bit smarter:
-
- On the FileMaker end, be careful how you export. Tab separated is
- probably the
- best. Try using summary or calculation fields.I can't remember if you can
- export
- these from v1, but I'm pretty sure you can with v2.0.
-
- You can get FM Pro to export it in the format of the layout you have
- open. Try
- this first.
-
- It may be better to do some text manipulations with a text editor, and
- using
- global changes for specific uses.
-
- On the Quark end, you can use the Xpress tabs features. With a text
- editor, or
- within FM Pro you could apply styles to your exported text. For example,
- if you
- want the titles of publications in a bibliography to be italicised, I
- think you
- use <t> before it, and after it, to toggle it on and off (Check the
- manual).
-
- Similarly, you can apply styles through the Xpress tags. One way to do
- this
- would be to create a special field in FM which you only use in export.
- Use the
- replace command to fill this field with a certain style name, and export
- it
- before the field which you want in that style. With a bit of global
- changing
- in a text editor, you can have quite a lot of control.
