  10. I am the system manager for a group of scientists doing research into
  11. high-energy physics.  We are currently updating our transparency
  12. creation methods, mainly by purchasing a color PostScript printer.  In
  13. the past drawing packages like Adobe Illustrator and Microsoft Word
  14. have been used to create transparencies, but now we would like to look
  15. into a presentation software package made for making the task easier.

  17. The transparencies will mainly be used for scientific talks and
  18. lectures.  The following list of requirements should be met:
  19.  
  20.     (a) Ease of use (the main requirement!).
  21.  
  22.     (b) Able to handle mathematical equations, possibly by
  23.         incorporating images from a package like Microsoft Word's
  24.         Equation Writer.
  25.  
  26.     (c) Able to produce plots, especially those geared towards
  27.         science (rather than business).
  28.  
  29.     (d) Able to incorporate EPS images and those produced by the
  30.         AppleScan software.
  31.  
  32. Which presentation software package do you recommend, and why?  I am
  33. very interested in the strengths and weaknesses of each.  Do you know
  34. of any good comparisons of presentation software packages?
