  10. Dear colleagues,
  11. we have problems running a Postscript printer in the following
  12. configuration:
  13.    Motorola System V/88 R32V3.1
  14.    LP model ptnnx with MODEL=ptLW
  15.    Apple Laserwriter IIf via serial interface
  16.       the printer is also being fed from Mac machines through
  17.       its Localtalk interface
  18. Problems:
  19. 1. print jobs stall in most cases: lpstat displays "...printing.."
  20.    but nothing is printed
  21. 2. ps shows waiting process "csoffset"
  22. 3. lock files in /tmp are not always cleaned up
  23. 4. the model uses commands /usr/bin/{psflush,csoffset}
  24.    not documented anywhere.

  26. Questions:
  27. Did we overlook something?
  28. Does anybody have this or a similar setup running correctly?
  29. Should we rather use other software for spooling to this printer?
  30. Anybody have experiences with running CAP (Columbia Appletalk
  31.  Protocol for Unix machines; we also have a LaserwriterIIg
  32.  to do this) for this purpose?
