- : The Motorola 705 VME board is a six port serial card that is controlled by
- : an on board 68010. This may be what the reference is for.

- The `MC' at the beginning of the part number indicates that it is some
- sort of CPU chip. Don't know about a `MC68-705', but a `MC68HC705' is
- a CMOS 8-bit microcontroller with EPROM, plus varying amounts of RAM
- and on-board peripherals, depending upon the part's suffix. I recently
- designed a little display board for some of our products using the
- MC68HC05C8. This is in a plastic package, making it OTP (one time
- programmable), hence the `HC05' rather than `HC705'. I did my initial
- prototyping using a MC68HC805C4, which is similar to the 'HC05C8,
- except that it has half as much ROM, which is EEPROM instead of OTP
- ROM.
