- This message summarizes responses to my request for TSRs that switch
- the Control and Caps-Lock key. My original request was as follows:
-
- >Can anyone point me to software that will switch the Caps-Lock and Control
- >keys? I've been evaluating laptops and noticed that only a few put the
- >Control key to the left of "A" (necessary for us VI users that bounce
- > between >PC's and workstations).
-
- >If such software exists commercially or on the net, will it conflict with
- >word-processing packages like Wordstar or Word?
-
- I would like to thank the following people who so kindly responded to my
- request:
-
- Linda Lawrie ==> lawriel@osiris.cso.uiuc.edu
-
- Webb V. Turner Jr. ==> WTURNER@WSMR-SIMTEL20.ARMY.MIL
-
- Robert Hyatt ==> hyatt@cis.uab.edu
-
- John Verzani ==> verzani@math.washington.edu
-
- K.N. Godev ==> kalin@math.psu.edu
-
- Based on their responses, there are a variety of TSRs that will do the job.
- Some are available through certain responders, while others are available on
- archive servers garbo.uwasa.fi, wuarchive.uustl.edu, SIMTEL20, and
- oak.oakland.edu (/pub/mdsos/keyboard).

- I got one (from somewhere) called 'fixkat'. If you are interested,
- I could encode it and send it or you could look around the ftp
- locations...

- The program CTRLCAPS.COM written by Eric Meyer is included in the Video
- Display Editor VDE zip file on Simtel20 192.88.110.20 I have used it with all
- the programs I use on a PC but not Wordstar or Word unfortunately.
-
- SIMTEL20 PD1:<MSDOS.EDITOR>VDE164C.ZIP
-
- Hope this helps.

- I have written a tsr that does this. It behaves like this:
-
- pressing the capslock acts like you pressed the ctrl key.
- pressing the ctrl key acts like you pressed the ctrl key.
- pressing ctrl+capslock acts like you pressed the capslock key.
-
-
- I have both masm source and/or an executable you can have if you
- want them....

- I've been pulling down various pieces of software and seem to remember
- reading that there is a program at garbo.uwasa.fi that allows you to
- do what it is you are after. Look at the dos directory INDEX to find
- out for sure.
