- Hi,
-
- I called Reply, and the info they sent seems interesting. This is a series of
- motherboard replacements that either have the 386SLC, 486SLC(2) or i486 based
- chips. In addition, they offer support for 2.88 MB drives, a hardware assisted
- GUI accelrator (sp) that gives very respectable SVGA (not XGA) 1024x768 Winmark
- numbers. All in all, not a bad deal. We may bring some in to evaluate, and if
- we do, I will post info on the net in the next month or so.
-
- My contact there is Tim Boren, 1-800-955-5295 or fax 408-942-7753. My
- apologies to the non-US folks, I do not have the toll number.
-
- Standard disclaimers apply - not affiliated with either REPLY or IBM, have not
- tested it personally.
-
- By the way, it also supports additional hard drives. As long as the prices are
- right, if it increases both processor speed, RAM speed, video (major limitation
- in old PS/2s) and hard drive capacity, may not be a bad alternative to standard
- bus master boards and chip replacements.
-
