- I think what he meant was that the GUS generates sounds via wavetable synthesis.
- The loading of patches into the RAM has more to do with the midi songs
- and also used in the SB emulation. The GUS can also operate as 32 channel DACs
- for playback of straight digitised sound...

- Doubt if general midi will be the next standard. With more wavetable cards
- coming to the market, all with on board ram(and some with rom too), most
- game makers would probably opt to use their own patches and samples to go
- with their games.
