- I've got an old (1988) Adaptec AHA 1542A SCSI controller card and a Roland
- LAPC-1 (MPU-401 compatible) sound card in my 386/20DX. My problem is that
- Adaptec and LAPC-1 won't work together because they both have the same
- Base address 330H. I'm not willing to change the base address of the LAPC-1
- because many games and composing programs won't work if the address is any
- other than 330H. OK, lets change some hardware jumpers on the Adaptec
- (after finding a document that describes them), I thought. But well, well
- the system can't find the Adaptec from any other address than 330H.
- After checking out the Adaptec's BIOS with Norton, it seems that the
- old stupid Adaptec BIOS is coded to always use base address 330H.
-
- Any ideas? Would it help if I replaced the Adaptec BIOS with a newer one?
