- Well, I've figured out how to use the "backup" and "restore"
- commands under AIX. But my problem is that I'm running Mach/BSD 4.3
- on another machine. It seems that the backup format or disk formats
- are incompatible. I successfully backed up files from the AIX machine
- using "backup". But when I tried reading them on the Mach machine
- using "dump", it tells me that it's not a dump diskette.
-
- Is there a way around this?? The one common thing that both have is the
- ability to read/write to DOS diskettes. But I don't have a program
- to do a backup to standard DOS format diskettes.
-
- I think I have two options.
-
- (1) setup a floppy device on my Mach machine which has 80 tracks, 15 sectors
- as the disk format (OR) do something equivalent on the AIX machine, if
- I can figure out the disk format
-
- (2) find a program running under Mach that does a backup/restore to DOS
- formatted diskettes.
-
- Can anybody help???
