- Let me just say that I own a Zeos computer and it is one of the
- best systems I have worked with. As far as their support goes I
- have dealt with them on a few occassions to replace my keyboard
- and video card and on other technical matters and have never
- had any problems. I am currently shopping for a new 486
- computer and I can tell you that Zeos is at the top of my list.
-
- This isn't to say that Zeos is perfect. They aren't. If they
- were I would have never needed to deal with their support.
- While your roommate has every right to despise Zeos, you have
- to understand "the big picture". In numerous surveys two
- companies stand out in both product and support (look in past
- PC Magazines for instance). They are Zeos and Gateway 2000.
- After every good review in major computer magazines, expecially
- near the holidays, these two companies have such explosive
- sales, they're support rarely keeps up. I have seen message
- threads on Compuserve in both companies about people
- complaining about support. You are right, this is something you
- have to live with when you buy mail order. Even the big players
- like Dell have their problems.
-
- I'm not trying to preach to you, it's just that I always feel
- that people need to understand that when these problems happen,
- while they're not alone, they are in the minority. Forgive me
- if this sounded like a lecture. I hope your roommate gets his
- machine back. I too was considering trying a motherboard
- upgrade from Zeos, but I was afraid something like that could
- happen and so I'll just buy a new machine.
