  17.   Nope.  the .Z is for compressed format.  You need an uncompress from unix
  18. or something that'll do a similar job.  The .z (small z) is for unix pak
  19. programs.  Tar doesn't actually add an extension, but mst people will add an
  20. extension of .tar so that when compressed you get the .tar.Z extension.
