- Yo All!
-
- A friend of mine who has temporarily lost his access to the
- net has a small problem. He has purchased, a while back
- (beginning of the year), a 386sux20. It came with a 40M
- MFM/RLL hard drive.
-
- Problem is, he decided to add a new drive yesterday. Ripped
- open his machine, and found a great deal of processor
- technology on the drive. If I didn't know better, I'd think
- it was an IDE - it's got a processor and all.
-
- The controller is an MFM type, and the drive goes, and I
- quote, "Heniously fucking slow". It has two huge heat sinks,
- lots of chips, huge motors, and bloody _gears_, for cryin' out
- loud. Too much for an MFM drive, methinks...
-
- So, the model is: NEC DEM-204N
-
- Anybody had any experience with these drives, drop me a line
- (email, please, I don't normally get this group) - we want to
- know what it does! 8-)
-
- Cheers!
