  14. A friend of mine who has temporarily lost his access to the 
  15. net has a small problem.  He has purchased, a while back 
  16. (beginning of the year), a 386sux20.  It came with a 40M 
  17. MFM/RLL hard drive.

  19. Problem is, he decided to add a new drive yesterday.  Ripped 
  20. open his machine, and found a great deal of processor 
  21. technology on the drive.  If I didn't know better, I'd think 
  22. it was an IDE - it's got a processor and all.

  24. The controller is an MFM type, and the drive goes, and I 
  25. quote, "Heniously fucking slow".  It has two huge heat sinks, 
  26. lots of chips, huge motors, and bloody _gears_, for cryin' out 
  27. loud.  Too much for an MFM drive, methinks...

  29. So, the model is:  NEC DEM-204N
  30.  
  31. Anybody had any experience with these drives, drop me a line 
  32. (email, please, I don't normally get this group) - we want to 
  33. know what it does! 8-)
