- Hi there,
-
- I have a HP Graphics Ultra VGA card (a S3-based card) in my Compaq
- Deskpro/20e (386/20 MHz). Although the card works great I have a small
- problem.
-
- The card is capable of displaying 1024x768x256 using a 72 Hz refresh rate,
- however it defaults to something lower (probably 56 or 60 Hz). With the
- card is a utility program to change the refresh rate, but it only works on
- HP computers since it stores the settings somewhere in the HP bios (or some-
- thing like that). So here is the question:
-
- What controls the refresh rate ? Is it the S3 chip or is it something other
- on the card. I would like to write my own program to set the refresh rate
- (running it from AUTOEXEC.BAT), but I need information on where I should poke
- around.
-
- If anyone has any info about this I would appreciate if you could mail me or
- post it here or even point me in the right direction.
