- In the last issue of EE times there were 2 articles side by side that talked
- about the sony 3.5" M.O. drive, and the sony 3.5" mini CD format. I believe
- the sony mini CD article stated that it put all the information on a ~128MB
- drive which was the same specs for the MO drive. I don't know if the 2 drives
- are the same, but it would be my guess that they are.

- It also stated that the mini CD format used a fairly complicated compression
- technique similar to the DCC one. It ignores sounds that it believes are
- inaudible as well as quiet sounds that are masked by larger ones. I think
- the compression is proprietary, and by no means simple.

- The mini-CD may suck compared to regular CD's, but is better than tape IMHO.
- Hopefully it will take on in a big way - this would drive the cost of the
- 3.5" MO drive down as well.
