- I recently had a serious problem with a Mountain internal
- 250 meg tape drive. After placing a tape with backed-up data
- in the drive, I tried to restore the tape to the hard drive.
- I got a "Tape Not Formatted" error message. The manual sug-
- gested I re-tension the tape, which I did with no luck. I
- tried four other tapes that had been backed up under that
- drive or another QIC-80 drive all with the same result.
-
- When I looked closely at the tapes, I discovered that each
- tape had been cut and was turned into spaghetti inside the
- casing. A total of 5 tapes (about $110) destroyed by the
- drive... and we're a non-profit organization! All tapes were
- new and had been used just once.
-
- My question is... has anyone else had a similar problem with
- the Mountain drives (or others). If so, I want to collect
- details on incidents and submit them to Mountain in the hopes
- they will replace the destroyed tapes. Will gladly supply a
- summary for others who have had a similar problem.
-
- E-mail me direct. Thanks in advance.
