- I disagree with Chien-Chung Chen's posting. It most likely is the monitor
- making the noise, just like a TV set. The horizontal refresh rate on
- a standard TV is 15,750 hz, I think. I can hear that quit well from across thre
- room when a television is turned on and the sound is off. The sound I believe
- comes from the flyback coil oscillating. Similar to the hum you can hear
- at 60hz from different transformers, like in flourescent lights.
- I think there are three things you can do:
- 1) try a different monitor
- 2) turn on a stereo to drown out the monitor noise
- 3) put on a pair of headphones.
