- charge absurd license fees, eg 5% or more of system price, to use MCA. A few
- people tried to make MCA computers and adapters but there were compatibility
- problems.

- IBM has since changed its tune, but the damage was done. There are very few
- people building clones with MCA in them (i think NCR has one but nobody else
- comes to mind). This means that MCA add-in cards are more expensive, since
- the market is smaller and there are fewer competitors.

- Make sure that the add-in cards you might want to eventually buy are available
- at a reasonable price before you commit to MCA.
