  11. Hi,
  12.    I am considering the purchase of a sound card for a DOS machine, and
  13. I am looking for info on the merits and faults of various sound cards
  14. available for IBM/IBM compatible PCs. Of particular interest are the
  15. Sound Blaster and Sound Blaster Pro cards. A local dealer is going out
  16. of business and claims that $80 and $139 are "unbeatable" prices for
  17. these sound boards. I have several questions:
  18.    * Just how "unbeatable" are these prices?
  19.    * What other, superior sound boards are available & why are they superior?
  20.    * What features of the SB Pro board are really better than the vanilla SB?
  21.    * Are there features of the SB that were left out of the SB Pro?
  22.    * Are there many cool apps available that take advantage of SB/SB Pro??
  23.    * Is the programmer interface to SB/SB Pro usable/desirable/effective??
  24. All responses/experiences will be greatly appreciated, and I will generate
  25. a summary if there is interest. Please respond via email to the address
