- There is a review of 24 bit graphics boards in a new BYTE
- supplement. Here are some excerpts from that review about the
- Matrox Impression 1024:
-
- 3MB VRAM uses S3's 86C911 fixed-function chip
- 24 bit resolutions up to 1024 x 768 using Brooktree's BT484
- 24 bit RAMDAC and is VBE BIOS compliant.
- It replaces your VGA adapter.
- Matox should be shipping a hardware pan and zoom utility that
- will allow 2x-4x zooms with a mouse click.
- It is bundled with Win3.x and over 20 DOS apps drivers.
- Easy board installation and setup.
- At 1024x768x24 cursor was a little blurry, but the screen
- was beautifully stable, pinpoint sharp, and clear.
- The WinTach results were slow for it's group, but about
- twice as fast as a Speedstar 24x.
-
- They liked the Matox Impression 1024 commenting that it had
- one of the sharpest and clearest outputs and excellent
- Windows displays.
- _________
-
- Where did you find it for $655?
