  14. I saw a posting from somewhere in Canada about Gateway support.
  15. Actually, the question was on technical support which did not really
  16. get answered as you can see from the response.  Anyway, I had a few
  17. other questions for Gateway 2K so I sent them an email with questions
  18. on support for Canadian customers, software upgrades, and the ongoing
  19. ATI driver support controversy.  The following is their reply:

  26. We do sell to anywhere in the world, as a matter of fact, all they have
  27. to do is call us.  The only limitation is that we do not sell the
  28. Telepath fax/modem to international customers, since it is not rated to
  29. work on foreign phone lines.

  31. ATI has new drivers out for the local bus Pro card, but our compatibility
  32. department failed them because of resource problems.  (The drivers were
  33. taking more memory than they needed and not releasing it, so you couldn't
  34. load in programs no matter how much memory was free.)  When they come out
  35. with a driver set that works, we'll release it and post it on our support
  36. areas.  We are currently testing Build 51, which has 24-bit color support.

  38. If you received a version of Microsoft software from us, and a
  39. maintenance (lettered) upgrade is released such as Word for Windows
  40. 2.0a to 2.0b, our add-ons department will provide it free of charge.
  41. (800-252-3333)  If a major release comes out (like Money 1.0 to 2.0)
  42. then we only handle the free upgrades.  (You can post this if you want
  43. to.)  If you have received Money 1.0 after July 1st, 1992 you are
  44. eligible for a free upgrade, and should call our add-ons department at
  45. (800) 252-3333.  If you received Money 1.0 prior to July 1st, you must
  46. contact Microsoft at (800) 426-9400.  The upgrade price is $15.00, and
  47. they will require a copy of your invoice for 1.0 (our accounting
  48. department can mail you a copy of your invoice if you don't have
  49. yours.)
