- I saw a posting from somewhere in Canada about Gateway support.
- Actually, the question was on technical support which did not really
- get answered as you can see from the response. Anyway, I had a few
- other questions for Gateway 2K so I sent them an email with questions
- on support for Canadian customers, software upgrades, and the ongoing
- ATI driver support controversy. The following is their reply:

- We do sell to anywhere in the world, as a matter of fact, all they have
- to do is call us. The only limitation is that we do not sell the
- Telepath fax/modem to international customers, since it is not rated to
- work on foreign phone lines.
-
- ATI has new drivers out for the local bus Pro card, but our compatibility
- department failed them because of resource problems. (The drivers were
- taking more memory than they needed and not releasing it, so you couldn't
- load in programs no matter how much memory was free.) When they come out
- with a driver set that works, we'll release it and post it on our support
- areas. We are currently testing Build 51, which has 24-bit color support.
-
- If you received a version of Microsoft software from us, and a
- maintenance (lettered) upgrade is released such as Word for Windows
- 2.0a to 2.0b, our add-ons department will provide it free of charge.
- (800-252-3333) If a major release comes out (like Money 1.0 to 2.0)
- then we only handle the free upgrades. (You can post this if you want
- to.) If you have received Money 1.0 after July 1st, 1992 you are
- eligible for a free upgrade, and should call our add-ons department at
- (800) 252-3333. If you received Money 1.0 prior to July 1st, you must
- contact Microsoft at (800) 426-9400. The upgrade price is $15.00, and
- they will require a copy of your invoice for 1.0 (our accounting
- department can mail you a copy of your invoice if you don't have
- yours.)
