- : I have only one thing to say:
- :
- : The game sucks.
- :
- : I just erased of my hard drive.
- :
- : The reason?
- : The animation on my 486/50 16 megs was basically the same as in the demo, which means terrible.
-
- Huh? On my 486/33 it seemed ALOT faster than the demo, with
- everything on high detail....
-
- : The detail is very bad too. This reminded me of Maximum Overkill, where the
- : pixels are quite big. But for Comanche, we were rewarded with very fast
- : animation. Not so here.
-
- No way. I hate to say this, but I don't agree with you on this.
- I thought everything is very detailed in this game. The only drawback is the
- framerate (that I can see), which I expect MPS would correct (don't ask me how)
- with patches (just like everyone else :-) ).
-
- :
- : I played for half an hour, so I didn't even bother to get into the missions. I
- : only played one, and there was no background storyline that you followed, just:
- : Go there. Shoot that. Then go there. Shoot that. Then come back. Land.
- : Really exciting.
-
- That's all fighter pilots do in wartime, right? They don't give
- a damn about no story: they would be too busy figuring out ingress/egress
- routes, SAM/AAA threats, air threats, weather, visibility, accomplishing the
- mission, killing/eliminating the target, staying alive, etc, etc....
-
-
- :
- : Anyway, no one should judge a game by hearing just one opinion, so I suggest
- : that whoever is planning on getting the game waits a little to hear other
- : reactions. Maybe I am expecting too much...
-
-
- Don't take this as a flame Imad. It's not. Just sharing my
- opinion on the subject, that's all.
-
- I expect patches after patches for this game :-)
-
- Here's my two bits about the game:
-
- Excellent graphics. I loved it when I flew night missions in
- the Gulf (the FLIR is a nice touch). You get to watch tracers scream across the
- sky in random patterns hoping that you the pilot is stupid enough to fly into
- the stream of cannon fire (kind of like them footages you see on TV during the
- Gulf war). The multiple MPD/MPCDs are really helpful (once you figure out how
- to use them.). You can use the mouse along with the Thrustmaster/Joystick to
- pick out targets and lock on (for the RBM. Haven't tried that with A-A yet.
- note: this is with the Radar in Standard mode. Things might be different with
- AUthentic mode..). Time compression and automatic pilot is included in this
- game.
-
- There is alot of detail in this game, especially the terrain.
- Get into training mode and fly at rooftop level. Enjoy the scenery as you make
- fly-bys. Or, you could zoom at 700+KTS in the valleys and hills of Korea. Or,
- fly missions in Panama and destroy the water gates along the canal while doing
- battle with F-16s (yes, Falcons). The sky actually looks like the real sky: not
- just a big patch of blue witha couple of puffy clouds hanging around here and
- there. The sun-rise, sun-set is beautiful. Fly into the sky early in the
- morning and watch slowly as the world goes from pitch black to shiny and bright
- under the sun.
-
- One big drawback: the only way to fly with a wingie is to play
- via modem connection. In other words, if you play along, be prepared to take
- on the world by yourself. Yes, there are always friendlies nearby, but most of
- the time they seem to just go about their own business. The controls are very
- complicated. Really scared me the first time I played it (one other reason why
- I'm using the Standard mode radar :-) ). Also, there is no ACMI or "red flag"
- in this game.
-
- Can't comment on the realism of this game (i.e. flight model,
- weapons envelope, etc) because I have never flied a real F-15. maybe some of
- you veteran fliers out there can help me out? AI has been weak so far,
- but probably because I've got the difficulty setting on moderate.
-
- Anyway, this is NOT in anyway complete, since I've played it
- for only 5 hours. This is no Falcon 3.0. The program doesn't offer as much
- options. This game focuses more on the environment/plane than the overall
- picture IMHO.
-
- Just my two bits. Please, feel free to correct me :-)
