- Exactly! Companies don't put exact release dates in their ads. They may give a
- general time frame of when you should expect it, but nothing exact. You may
- say, "But this guy on the net says the release date is blahblah." Those people
- obviously called the company and asked for a date. Now how would you feel if
- the company said, "We don't know yet."? You'll probably lose some confidence in
- them. The company doesn't want this so they have to give *some* date. This
- is the same for those stores that publish dates.
- Now I am not saying companies just make up a date. Probably the product is
- almost done, so they expect it soon. Then of course problems happen and the
- date only gets pushed back a little since it's still almost done. Still, the
- development doesn't expactly post hourly progress memos for the marketing/
- public relations department. Any second hand info is usually not completely
- correct.
- BTW, how would you feel if the new game you're working on has problems and a
- negative deadline, and then have a P/R person whining about a release date to
- quiet the masses? It would certainly make the process very unenjoyable. Now
- what happens when one doesn't enjoy one's work? The work won't be the BEST!!!
- So stop hounding them! I know really advanced ads are annoying, but just take
- a look, say "Cool!", and then PUT IT OUT OF YOUR MIND!!! Why add more stress
- to your life! IMHO.
