- My friends, I need your advice. I had problems with my new hard disk
- MAXTOR, everytime it produces lost clusters, and many programs are
- lost. I want to know the reason. Somebody told that the problem was the
- configuration.

- In my BIOS configuration I used : Cyl Hds Pre Lz Sec Size

- In both cases, I had many problems with the FATs.

- non-interlaced Dell UltraVGA monitor. What are the optimal video
- switch settings on the motherboard and correct Win31 video driver to
- give the best screen - highest refresh rate, lowest flicker? TIA for
- any help you can offer.

- Ok, let me put an end to this XT and no HD drives myth. Yes it
- can be done, but not with the original controller card. CompuAdd sells
- a controller card for around $35 that allows you to have HD drives on
- an XT. I know because I have one and it works great! My XT has both
- sizes of HD drives and 2Mb expanded memory to boot. Oh yea, they sell
- those expanded memory boards for XT's for around $75 + RAM cost. I
- guess if you want part numbers for the cards and/or telephone numbers
- for CompuAdd I can find those out for yall through e-mail.

- I need some info on a Mountain Tape backup unit. The model nomber seems
- to be 01-05750-10. It takes DC2000 40 Meg tapes. It has a normal 1.2
- Meg fopply drive edge connector. I assume it connects to the floppy
- controller.

- I am having a WEIRD problem with my DeskPro 386/20 and I just thought
- someone out-there may be able to help. Here is the situation:

- When the machine is turned on, nothing appears on the screen, not even
- the RAM check cycle. No beeps, nothing. The machine just sits there. If
- I remove the video card, the machine boots-up as normal and everything
- works fine. There's no display, but by listening and looking at the HD
- light, I can see everything is booting... Now, you might say "Hey
- buddy! Your video card is no good." Well, it works fine in my other
- machine. In fact, I tried three different video boards in this Deskpro,
- and each time the system does not even go through the initial
- RAM-check. I tried a Monochrome card, an EGA and finally an ATI VGA
- Integra. All these cards were taken from working machines. I checked
- all DIP switches, and they seem fine to me. Anyone out there have any
- ideas before I pull the rest of my hair out?
