- We are using Microsoft Mail version 2.1, and the SMTP gateway option.
- This setup has been working fine for over a year, but we are now
- experiencing some very wierd behavior.
-
- Our environment is made up of PCs and Sun workstations, all running TCP/IP.
-
- PC mail users are able to send mail to other PC users with no problems.
-
- PC mail users are also able to send mail to our Unix systems with no problems.
-
- Unix mail users can send mail amongst themselves, with no problems.
-
- Unix mail users (or any mail user outside of the Microsoft Mail environment)
- CAN'T send mail to PC mail users.
-
- The strange part is that the mail acts like it is being delivered just fine. It
- never bounces back to the sender, but it never shows up in the PC mail user's
- mailbox either.
-
- Here is some output that I captured from the smtpgateway console, with all the
- information options turned on.
-
- 16:57:03 - Incoming SMTP connection from [192.138.254.1] detected
- [tx] 220 All set, fire away
- [rx] HELO sun3.daisynet
- [tx] 250 Hi there, pleased to meet you
- [rx] MAIL From:<root@sun3>
- 16:57:03 - Translating remote address: "root@sun3"
- 16:57:03 - Non-local address left unmapped
- [tx] 250 Sender OK
- [rx] RCPT To:<test@smtpgate>
- 16:57:03 - Translating local address: "test@smtpgate"
- 16:57:03 - Mapped to "CSI:isinet/isilocalpo/test"
- [tx] 250 Recipient OK
- [rx] DATA
- [tx] 354 Start mail input; end with <CRLF>.<CRLF>
- [rx] ...message body...
- [tx] 250
- 16:57:04 - Sending message to Courier
- [rx] QUIT
- [tx] 221 See you later
- 16:57:17 - SMTP connection closed
-
-
-
- This looks normal to me. Am I wrong?
-
-
- Also, where does the actual message get stored in the MS Mail directory,i.e. which of these
- directories stores the message data?
-
- att/ glb/ key/ mem/ tpl/
- display.cfg grp/ log/ nme/ usr/
- folders/ hlp/ mai/ p1/ xtn/
- inf/ mbg/ smtp/
-
-
-
- The manuals have not been very useful at all for trying to trouble-shoot this
- problem.
-
-
-
- Any info on the questions above would be greatly appreciated.
-
- Thanks,
-
- Saul
