- I think the best way to get the profs to allow programmable calcs in general
- (and the 48 specifically) is to:
- -- show them what you can do with it
- -- they'll probably bite, so they can badger their dept to obtain some
- "for evaluation purposes"
- -- hopefully, they'll receive enlightenment and want to integrate the
- machine into their courses
- -- then they'll start to REQUIRE the calc, rather than forbid its use

- Perhaps you (or a sympathetic faculty member) could contact HP to see if
- they can provide any help in this regard. Since you're a 4th yr student,
- you may want to recruit a 2nd yr student to carry on the crusade after you
- have (hopefully :-) ) graduated -- as it will take longer than one
- semester to do this. Show 'em the symbolics capabilities....that should
- help...and the Solver -- why rehash arith. classes??? [this coming from a
- former math. instructor].
