- Summary: looking for info on how mediainit guru mode works
- Keywords: mediainit, guru mode, unsupported!
-
- Colleagues,
-
- I'd like to reformat one of my 3rd party discs to 1024 bytes per
- sector from the factory default of 512.
-
- I've poked around in mediainit(1m) and discovered the -G flag which
- produces the following message:
-
- WARNING: You have invoked guru mode, a mode requiring
- extensive device command set knowledge in order to
- properly respond to prompts that follow, and from which you
- could seriously compromise device integrity by responding
- improperly. Are you SURE? (y/n)
-
- Well, I wasn't sure...
-
- I'll have the command set tomorrow, so I'd like to know if anyone has
- used guru mode and can give me a bit of a rundown?
-
- I realise using such a command on a 3rd party disc is TOTALLY
- UNSUPPORTED, but I'm willing to give it a try.
-
- Thanks in advance!
-
