- Hmmm.... not with passwd(1) on the system sitting in front of me here (7xx
- running 9.0). I tried entering "foo" as my new password three times, and was
- told,

- "Password is too short - must be at least 6 characters"

- with each try; after the third I get the additional error message,

- I tried this sequence twice with the same results.

- Of course, as root, I can easily set the password for my login "dave" to
