  13. Greetings & Hello fellow palmtop/handheld/pen computer users...

  15. I recently went to the local Biz-Mart and lo and behold a Wizard 9600
  16. was on display!!! Quickly I asked the salesperson to let me see the  
  17. creature.
  18.  
  19. To get to the point.....
  20. I felt I would post my overall opinion of the beast.
  21.  
  22. Physically the 9600 is just a tad bit thicker and wider that my  
  23. Wizard 8000.
  24. I could not put it into the shirt pocket that barely can fit my 9600  
  25. either.
  26. (yes I did try!)

  28. Almost the same keyboard layout as my 9600.
  29. (Minus the application keys which are on the screen as labels)
  30. same "chicklet" keys as the OZ-8000.
  31.  
  32. I think it ran on 4 X "AAA" batteries with easy no screwdriver  
  33. access,
  34. and one "organizer" battery for merory protection.
  35.  
  36. The unit has 256K of memory, one Sharp card slot, and an IR transfer
  37. port (OZ 9600 to OZ 9600 or OZ 9600 to PC).

  39. As to the use of the organizer, I spent maybe 30 - 40 minutes playing
  40. with all of the applications in which I found very easy to use.
  41. The graphical user interface is very quick and robust, If you can
  42. imagine a small LCD version of a Macintosh's (powerbook?) GUI you got  
  43. it.

  45. And Now in my opinion the pluses and minuses....
  46.  
  47. + IR Port 
  48. + "AAA" batteries instead of a million "organizer batteries"
  49. + Graphical User Interface Quick!
  50. + Software LCD contrast control
  51. + Very easy to navigate after a few minutes of use.

  53. - Same keyboard as my OZ-8000
  54. - pen only used for starting applications then pretty much  
  55. useless....
  56. (except in the scrapbook application)
  57. - only 256K of on-board memory.
  58. - Price..  Bizmart is selling the 9600 for approximatly $500.00   :-(

  60. The major problem I thought was that the pen was used just to start
  61. applications and exit them. then I would lay the pen down to enter 
  62. information.
  63. (not that I have any better way of entering text with a pen!
  64. (recognition maybe?))

  66. I found it better to not use the pen and just point with my finger,  
  67. ie 
  68. I have no use for the pen.

  70. How about a meg or two of system memory?

  72. Else: this is a very nice peice of work, but I will wait for the
  73. evolution process to continue for awhile before I trade in my  
  74. OZ-8000.

  77. on to whom ever does research for the next release.
