- Okay, I'll try again. I have a Sequential Circuits model 270 , 2 1/2
- octive keyboard for hooking up to the joystick port of my commodore 64.
- The kids have torn the wiring out of the side, the wiring consisting of
- five lines. This wiring was torn out of the board such that no color
- exists on the solder glob to make identification for me easy.
- Sequential has been bought out by Wine Country Productions,
- whom I've written months ago for assistance on how to rehook the wiring
- back up. All I've received from them to date are two ads for new midi
- interfaces, so I know they at least got my letter. (and then ignored it
- after I was put on their mailing list.)
- This last weekend I took the keyboard apart, and inside was a 40-pin
- IC, a resistor, and a capacitor(?). FOr the folks in the electronics
- group, the chip had the following marking on it.
- I-600
- 5A-2084
- 8438
-
- The IC had 32 lines connected to the keyboard keys. Of the five lines,
- one was connected to pins 1 and 2, one to pin 20, one to pin 3, one to
- pin 39, and one to pin 38 through a 915 ohm resistor. There is something
- connected across pins 1 and 20 that could be a small cap, but the only
- markings on it are 104m.
-
- I assume pins 1 and 20 are ground and +5 volt, but I'd hate to guess
- wrong and burn out the chip. The other three lines are joystick data
- lines, and I could vary the connections with them until they work
- provided I have the power hooked up right.
-
- For the c64 folks, the three data lines are A0, A2, and A3.
-
- If anyone knows the proper power connections for this IC, please let
- know. If anyone knows how to hook the final three lines up correctly,
- please save me the experimentation time.
- Thank you.
