- For 16-bit A to D I would recomend The CRYSTAL CS4216. This is a pretty new
- chip but it is kick ass. Analog devices has a similar part. The CS4216 is
- a stereo 16-bit CODEC. If you don't know, that means it has two A/D and two
- D/A converters on one chip. This lets you record and play back. The only
- pisser about this chip is that it has a serial interface. For me this was
- a bonus because I was able to directly connect it up to the serial ports on
- my TMS320C30 DSP. The serial interface is not RS-232, it is a synchronous type
- that DSPs use. The part does sound great I might add. Great for a MIDI tone
- module I might add.
