- Han Baumer asked about joysticks for playing Llamatron...
-
- I've tried just about every joystick to come along (I've even got
- one that looks like a hand-grenade.. no kidding.. the lever on
- the side is the "fire button" and it even has the pull pin..
- unfortunately it's a terrible joystick, but it sure is a great
- conversation starter at MIDI Maze games..!).. but.. my all time
- favorite is still the good, old fashioned, Atari joystick..
-
- Yes, it does tend to break if you're too rough with it, but
- nothing I've tried is a quickly responsive and as easy to hold
- (I still use the technique I learned from the instruction manual
- for the old 8-bit Missile Command cartridge... thumb of right
- hand on TOP of the stick, support the stick by pressing down
- on thumb, and "point" the stick in the direction you want by
- moving your thumb.. much better control than "grasping" the
- stick in the right hand..)
-
- Unfortunately, one result of the Atari video game market going
- down the drain is that it's much harder to find the standard
- Atari brand stick any more. Most of what you find are Nintendo
- or Sega compatibles now.. Also, it's almost impossible to find
- the replacement nylon inserts to rebuild the joysticks when
- they DO break. If you find a supply of them, it's good to
- stock several..!
