- I'm one of the few people who played and completed Universe II. The ending
- was quite exciting - UDP forces (lead by Desmona Ret) storm the hyperspace
- booster and hold the FW to ransom by threatening to activate it and blow up
- the local star, not realising what the consequences would be. You have to
- save the day.
-
- IMHO Universe II was a classic game and would still be in my top ten of ST
- games, six years after its release. It took me nearly a year of regular
- playing to solve (corresponding to over seven years of game time). Pity about
- all the disk accessing though - I wore my original ST drive out playing it.
-
- Do you know about the followup adventure, Universe III? In it, you use the
- hyperspace booster to travel back to the Home Cluster to find out what has
- happened to Earth. Unlike Universes I and II, III is a graphic adventure
- and quite easy to solve. I think I took two and a half weeks to finish it,
- a far cry from the time needed for Universe II. Universe III is very
- disappointing when compared to the other two games, and I would recommend
- it only to diehard Omnitrend fans.
-
- If you're seriously into the UDP/FW saga, two other games from Omnitrend
- are worth buying, both strategic combat games . Breach I takes place in the
- years before Universe II and Breach II follows the events in Universe III
- as all out war breaks out between the two superpowers.
-
- Hope this helps,
-
- William Hern.
