- According to a Motorola press release I'm reading right now, the DSP
- runs at 40Mhz internally, regardless of the external clock speed, and
- has a capability of 20MIPS.
-
- (MIPS = Meaningless Indication of Processor Speed)
-
- I don't doubt the speed you state, but MIPS is useless as an indicator
- of machine capability UNLESS COMPARING WITH THE SAME PROCESSOR.
-
- (ie: An 8088 running at 3.8 MIPS is still going to have about 1/8 the
- computational ability of the 68040 running at the same MIPS
- rating.)
-
- Does anyone have something a little more meaningful as a speed benchmark
- like Dhrystone ratings, or ratings relative to an ST?

-
- Why on earth would you want to put in a processor with a 16bit data bus?
-
- If your host machine (Falcon) has a 32 bit bus, then use a 32 bit
- parasite processor (386DX, 486or P5). Don't waste everybody's time
- plugging in a slow processor which will have to take two bites at
- the data bus to get its instructions.

- Get an editor which wraps at 72 columns please. Not everyone has 132
- column setups.......
