-
- Welcome to atari.archive.umich.edu's Frequently Asked Questions
-
- Updated on: Dec 15, 1992
-
-
- 1. How can I access the archive?
-
- You can access the archive in one of two ways: by our mail server, BART,
- or via anonymous ftp. To get information on the mail server, please
- send mail to atari@atari.archive.umich.edu with a body of 'help'. For
- information on anonymous ftp, please refer to my 'Beginner's Guide to
- Anonymous FTP,' which is frequently posted here. Questions about BART
- should first be addressed to the help file, then to Jon Brode,
- jon@atari.archive.umich.edu.
-
- [NOTE: As of Dec 15, bart was still being beta tested.]
-
- **NEW**: Atari.archive.umich.edu is now available over the gopher system.
- As each gopher is setup differently, I can't give a specific path. But,
- you might want to try looking under "Other Gopher Systems", "North America",
- "USA", "Software Archives at the University of Michigan". Have fun.
-
- **NEW**: The archive is also being mirrored in at least two locations:
- wuarchive.wustl.edu in mirrors/archive.umich.edu/atari and at
- src.doc.ic.ac.uk in computing/systems/atari/umich. Thanks for
- helping to reduce our load by using our mirrors. Remeber, that uploads
- to the mirrors will NOT make it to me. To upload, you *must* be
- at atari.archive.umich.edu.
-
- 3. How can I upload things to the archive?
-
- You can upload via ftp or by sending uuencoded chunks to me (address below).
- Please refer to 'How to upload to atari.archive' (frequently posted here)
- for more information.
-
-
- 4. After I've posted files to the archive, it often takes a few days before
- they're available to the public. What sort of queueing system do
- you use?
-
- **NEW**: The queueing system is now known as our collective spare time.
- I've found some folks willing to donate their time and energy to
- help maintain the archive. So, if you don't see someting appear in
- a few days time, that means we're probably having trouble with your
- file. Drop us a line at atari-archivists@atari.archive.umich.edu
- to find out what's going on.
-
-
- 5. What is {MiNT, TeX, Gnu, etc.}?
-
- Please refer these questions to the authors of the software. Often times
- I know very little about a piece of software that is posted here.
-
-
- 6. What is the ip# for atari.archive.umich.edu?
-
- **NEW**: Well, we're back to one ip#. I'm not going to say what it
- is, just use the atari.archive address.
-
- 7. What are the ???s in the index for?
-
- A ??? signifies that I don't know what the file is or does. Please
- feel free to contact me should you happen to know the answer.
-
-
- 8. Where can I go for more information about the archive?
-
- Please feel free to send mail to weiner@atari.archive.umich.edu and I'll
- try to answer your questions. Questions about BART should be addressed
- to its author, Jon Brode (jon@atari.archive.umich.edu).
-
-
- 9. What happens if mail bounces when we try to contact you?
-
- I can be reached at the following addresses. Please use them in
- this order: weiner@atari.archive.umich.edu,
- weiner@terminator.rs.itd.umich.edu
- Jeff.weiner@um.cc.umich.edu
- weiner@stat.umn.edu
- weiner@zircon.labmed.umn.edu
-
-
- Cheers,
