- One method of eliminating the translation would be to use the "R:"
- port -- since there is an XIO that definitely works for this port. The
- only problem is you would then need a serial to parallel converter,
- since most printers can't be hooked up serially. All software could be
- made compatible; just go into the handler table and change the letter "P"
- to something else, and change "R" to "P". In addition, the "R" handler
- would have to be loaded at boot-up.
- It might also be possible to write a "P" handler which eliminates this
- problem on the 850, and still uses the parallel printer port. It should
- be possible to add an extra CR or LF, but I doubt anything could be done
- about the conversion of the ATASCII return.
