- As I said. I hadn't thought it through very much. I answered my own
- question (at least this speculation.) a little while after the post.
-
- : The GS Firmware Reference must be talking about the built-in serial
- : ports, which are indeed slots 1 and 2, when they are chosen in the
- : Control Panel. But the user could easily have a printer card in any
- : slot.
-
- O.K. That is what I wanted to know.
-
- : So it seems you should examine $00/Cnxx to see which slots have the
- : right ID bytes to follow the BASIC or Pascal character I/O conventions.
- : There is information in the Firmware Reference and the Technical Notes
- : (especially Apple II Miscellaneous #8, for the Pascal ID bytes).
-
- So I need to support both Pascal and Basic protocols. Is that what you
- are saying? Let's say I only want to support only Pascal.(not that I am)
- How many printers actually use the Basic Protocol. In the firmware
- reference it states that the Pascal always needs a linefeed unless you do
- blah blah. What about this? It is no big deal because you can turn them
- on or off in the interface I have but just a question. I will look at the
- Misc note #8. I thought I had them all at home anyway but I don't remember
- this tech note given in the index. Of course, I reserve the right to be
- absolutely wrong.
