- O.K. I have a good interface for GSOS printer drivers. Now for the
- next step.(no pun intended)
-
- I am now in ProDOS 8. I want to identify a printer and I want to
- exclude all the other ports that could not possibly be printers. How can I
- do this. Remember this is only on the IIgs. The firmware reference says
- that it can only be in slots one and two. Is this the case? Let's
- speculate that it isn't the case. Let's step through the list of block
- devices for ProDOS 8. Let's say I get:
-
- slot 1 drive 1 = block device
- slot 1 drive 2 = block device
- slot 2 drive 2 = block device
- slot 3 drive 2 = block device
-
- This is not a real list by any methods. All I am trying to get at is
- that if there is a block device defined for slot 1 drive 1 can I actually
- say that there is no printer there? But could I also say that there may be
- a printer at slot 2 because nothing is taking up drive 1.
-
- I just through this together right now to see what I could come up
- with. Any comments or suggestions on how you have done it or how you think
- it should be done would be appreciated.
