  28.      After many years of successfully using a //c as an all-purpose home
  29. computer, I picked up a second-hand ][e (unenhanced) at a computer auction
  30. (at an amazingly cheap price, too).  However, it contained a number of cards
  31. I am unfamiliar with (my previous contact with ][es was over six years ago,
  32. and they always had Apple cards in them).

  34.     The ][e came with a Corvus 20Mb HD, a Corvus Omninet HD server, a
  35. Corvus Omninet Utility (ie printer) server, and a Corvus Transporter (ie
  36. network) card to be placed in slot 6.  Luckily, all of the omninet documentation
  37. came with the system, so I know how to create a basic Omninet setup. THe problem
  38. arises when I want to connect the servers and transporter card to the network;
  39. the books assume you have all the required cables, which I don't.

  41.     The manuals describe how to copnnect these cables to the network, by
  42. connecting the red wire of the connecting cable to the red wire of the network,
  43. and the black wire of the connecting cable to the black wire of the network.
  44. This I can understand, but at the other end of the connecting cable (ie the
  45. servers and transporter card) there is a 3-pin male plug; how should I connect
  46. the cable wiring to these plugs?
  47. The outside pins of the three pin plug are labeled + and - respectively, and the
  48. middle pin is unlabeled.  Should I connect the red cable wire to the + pin, the
  49. black cable wire to the - pin, and ignore the middle pin?  Or is there some
  50. other, less obvious method of connecting these cables?

  52.     By the way, does anyone know if Corvus still exist?  I'd like to get an
  53. internal HD controller card for the ][e, so I can access the HD directly without
  54. having to use all the messy networking software (I'd also like to format the HD
  55. as one large ProDOS volume; not two banks with 62 Dos 3.3 volumes like it is
  56. at the momment).
