- I don't know what IBM's current repair strategy is for PCjrs. For our
- machines (PS/1's) we work with motherboard swaps or even entire machine
- swaps when under warranty. I don't know what happens out of warranty, but
- I guess I could find out. Motherboard swaps are just plain easier for
- everyone; luckily it only takes a few days at most to get a new machine.
- I don't know what happens to the returned broken boards. We might scrap
- them for parts or try to fix them then sell again or fix them and use them
- internally. All this is pretty moot, since the IBM machines are open
- architecture and it is not difficult to find someone who fixes them for
- $x+parts. This is much harder to do with any Apple. Maybe if Apple keeps
- increasing its marketshare with the macs, more individuals will service
- them themselves (voiding warranty of course).
