- >1. What *is* a language card?
-
- The language card contains 16K, plus, I guess memory to replace the chip that
- was in the socket it plugs into. My 32K language card-oid also plugged into one
- of the RAM sockets. This extra 16K is a "Language Card" because it is was
- originally made to provide enough memory for the Apple II Pascal system.

- >2. Is this machine capable of displaying 80 column text?
-
- Not w/o an 80 column card. Applied Engineering made?makes the Viewmaster 80.
- Many 80-column cards used to be available. I have some strange 80 col card in
- my ][+. I figured out how to enable it once and then never used it again.
-
- >3. Is there a way I can add an RS232 serial port?
-
- Yes. Apple sells the Super Serial Card. There are a number of clones, including
- a new one from Sequential Systems. TMS sells the Seq. Sys. card.

-
- This is perfectly normal behavior if there is no disk in the drive. Press
- control-reset (or just reset, depending on the setting of the reset switch
- below the keyboard inside the computer) to stop the disk drive. Don't leave it
- running too long. It is supposedly bad for the motor.
