- The FIRST step (I know, this is obvious) is to have him run TWO LONG
- SALVOL's in a row, without attempting reboot in between. i.e. use the "-a"
- option after Logical Volume #.
-
- % salvol
- ...
- Salvol options:
- -a : read all blocks in all files
- -f : fix disk errors without prompting
- -n : only salvage if disk needs it
- -s : print statistics at the end of salvage
- -p : polite mode, pause before overflowing screen
- -v : verify only (don't write anything to disk)
- Please input lv_num (1)[-option]... : 1 -a

- If that doesn't solve the problem, have him try a control-C (or Control-Q if
- aegis key defs). If that doesn't get him in, he will have to go to phase II
- shell (ex at the Login: prompt), and enter SH (for SHell). IF it allows the
- login at this level, I would suggest checking and editing ALL the startup
- type files... /sys/dm/startup_login* /sys/node_data/startup* ~/.login
- ~/.cshrc ~/.profile ~/user_data/sh/startup (whichever are appropriate to the
- shell he is using). He may find one of those files corrupted.
