- Having just finished a killer contract for the Amiga, I now have time
- to sit back and look at what went wrong. I realize now that I spun
- my wheels a lot on areas that weren't my expertise. If I were to do
- it again, I would sub-contract out:
- * Creating a linker that can link pc-relative code larger
- than 32K (or modifying an existing one, as I did), CDN$1000
- * Creating a KickTag stub that installs a stub DOS boot node,
- CDN$300
- and perhaps a few other areas that I can't think of right now.
-
- As you can see, nobody would have gotten rich, but the sub-contracts
- might have been worth while to someone as a side project.
-
- Anyway, I anticipate a few even larger spin-off contracts from the one
- I just completed. So in anticipation, I'd like to find out what
- resources are available out there. One area I might be looking to
- sub-contract out is the design and implementation of the Intuition
- "shell" to a spiffy user interface. Other areas could be just about
- anything; there's a lot of potential to this product that's being
- designed.
-
- Since you're where you are, and I'm here, any sub-contracts would
- have to be fixed-fee with minimal supervision. Communications
- would be via encrypted e-mail & phone. You'd have to be willing
- to sign a non-disclosure agreement.
-
- If you're interested in the possibility of contract work, please
- send me a resume (by e-mail). I'll acknowledge each message
- received. Details I'm interested in are:
- * areas of expertise
- * amount of time available
- * credentials. This is very important, as I'm unlikely
- to ever see you face-to-face. What projects have you
- done? Who can I call for a reference? Do you have
- any examples of your finished work or coding style?
- * Tax details. Is there anything special for your
- country? For instance, in my country there is a
- sales tax that also applies to foreign transactions.
- As things evolve, there might be other details that are wanted;
- you might want to watch for follow-ups.
-
- I imagine that I'm not the only person interested in contracting
- out. So I volunteer to keep an archive of people's resumes. If
- you don't want your resume to be public (perhaps you don't want
- your employer to know you are circulating it), please state so
- clearly and I won't place it in the archive. The archive will be
- available via BMS (see alt.sys.amiga.uucp for details). I'll try
- to get a more conventional mail server running.
-
- Cheers,
