  22. We found when trying to apply V5.x patches, 99% of the problems
  23. occurred due to something the user had done to change one or more
  24. of the files - modified a header file, copied in a different
  25. version of one of the programs, did a binary patch for some reason.
  26. This caused the install program to fail.  By patching the programs
  27. directly off the floppies, we KNOW what is going to be there.
  28. Every valid user has the master floppies, and there is only one
  29. version of the master floppies.  Thus, future patches will all be
  30. relative to the *6.0* base floppies, not the 6.1 installed on the
  31. disk; future patches won't require 6.1 at all, in fact.
