- We found when trying to apply V5.x patches, 99% of the problems
- occurred due to something the user had done to change one or more
- of the files - modified a header file, copied in a different
- version of one of the programs, did a binary patch for some reason.
- This caused the install program to fail. By patching the programs
- directly off the floppies, we KNOW what is going to be there.
- Every valid user has the master floppies, and there is only one
- version of the master floppies. Thus, future patches will all be
- relative to the *6.0* base floppies, not the 6.1 installed on the
- disk; future patches won't require 6.1 at all, in fact.
