  10. As someone who has been interested in the amiga for many years, but who, for
  11. many reasons, never owned one, I have just taken the plunge.  My reasons:

  13.     1.  I produce radio and TV shows for world wide distribution
  14.     2.  I needed a new toy for XMAS
  15.     3.  I got a really good deal on a 2500 system with some nice peripherals
  16.  
  17. The machine will arrive in Early January.  Meanwhile, I, who know only DOS,
  18. NOVELL and UNIX, and have been doing my video titling on a SONY CPM machine,
  19. now must get up to speed on just what makes this new box tick.

  21. One reason I delayed getting an amiga is the religious fanaticism I have seen
  22. amongst the "Meegaheads" on the net and elsewhere.  I work with many
  23. different computer systems every day.  I will even admit here publicly that I
  24. still own and use a VIC-20 (As a video slate generator so I can record audio
  25. from my satellite system onto videotape even if the channel is scrambled)...
  26. So I don't think I will become one of those who loses all perspective (as the
  27. fanatical adherents of ANY machine when it is the only thing they own)...

  29. I therefore need to know if there is an FAQ for the AMIGA, and if there is,
  30. can I access it by mail?  I am at this moment daunted by the fact that I do
  31. not know what in the heck an AGNUS, DENISE or GARY chip is...  I don't even
  32. know what screen resolutions are supported by the machine I am buying.  Like
  33. what does HAM mean (besides the sandwich I just ate here at work)...

  35. I did buy this month's AMAZING COMPUTING and AMIGA WORLD and filled out all
  36. the sendaway cards...  BUT these magazines left me with more questions than
  37. answers.

  39. Having spend many years holding the hands of others through their
  40. introductory time in PC's, NOVELL, UNIX and TVRO SATELLITE systems, I
  41. suddenly find myself in the position of a NEWBIE.
