- Hi Jeffrey Wille, in a letter of December 14th '92, you wrote about
- [Help needed with SyQuest SQ555 removablemedia HD]:
-
-
- JW> I plugged it into the external SCSI port and powered it up with a
- JW> cartridge inside, booted the 3000 and ran HDtoolbox. With HD
- JW> toolbox I changed the drivetype to the values that it read from
- JW> the drive (it reported that it was a SyQuest 42 MB drive, which
- JW> is what I expected). Then I did a low-level format, and partitioned
- JW> it as single partition.
- JW>
- JW> Upon leaving HDtoolbox, the icon for the drive appeared as SHD0:RRRR,
- JW> and it refused to open. So, I got SCSI mounter from FF537 (or somewhere
- JW> near there) and mounted it, at which point the icon became SHD0:BUSY.
-
- After you have low-level formatted the drive with HDToolbox, you have to
- format it in WB or in the CLI. Low-level-formatting is not the same as
- formatting.
