- This letter is for the public and for anyone buying anything from
- Elite MicroComputers. I have a sad story to tell - but I'll make it short
- and to the point.
-
- I was an owner of an IBM 286 Bridgeboard, until I decided to upgrade
- it to a 486 24mhz board - a conversion process that Elite is advertising.
- Elite MicroComputer advertises in Amiga World magazine and in Crossings,
- the bridgboard newsletter.
-
- Well, I mailed my Bridgeboard and a check for $760.00 to Elite -
- requesting to set me up with a external speaker and a math co-processor,
- plus the modification to my Bridgeboard. The conversion process was
- then completed and my newly modified Bridgeboard was mailed back to
- me by AirBorne Express.
-
- The resulting events led to the Bridgeboard being dropped off in
- my Apartment Complex lobby - during the day. I found that out 4 days
- later. Well, needless to say someone took it and I do not have it.
-
- Who is to blame - first it could be said AirBorne Express is to
- be blamed. But that would be true if the package was insured. The
- package was not insured and as a matter of fact when the editor of
- Crossings received her Bridgeboard from Elite - it was also NOT INSURED.
-
- It has been about 2 1/2 month since I sent my board to Elite. Today,
- they - meaning Dave - the Owner of Elite - is waiting for a response
- from AirBorne as to if they (AirBorne) will pay the full amount of the
- loss. Airborne did send a check to Elite for $100.00 for the loss -
- the $100.00 limit was due to the neglegence of AirBorne - but they
- are not responsible for anything more than that - BECAUSE the package
- was not insured for the value of it.
-
- So, if Dave of MicroComputers reads this news and for all of you
- out there who wanted to buy anything from Elite, I would highly suggest
- Vortex - for they do insure their products in the mail.
-
- By the way, I am still out of $1,000.00 or so dollars. The $760.00 plus
- the loss of my Bidgeboard.
-
- I would gladly write another letter to say something good about
- Elite if they give me my money back. But until then I won't
-
-
- I will not rest until I get my money back, I have talked to
- the Editor of Crossings and the Editor of AmigaWorld and they are
- willing to publish this information too - so if any one wants
- to relay this info. to others - Elite just may go out of Business.
- It is up to them - give my money back or go out of Business.
-
- I also already have an application from the Better Business Bureau
- to fill out a complaint on Elite. I have proof of me sending out my
- board to them - I have a carbon copy of the check I wrote - I have
- a copy of a claims form Elite wrote to AirBorne Express - AND I have
- a copy of the form that DAVE signed stating he did not insured the
- package. I will take this to small claims court if I have to, but
- that only means Elite will have to pay the money to me anyway plus
- court fees and I'll even charge him with anything else that comes
- along the way.
