- G'day all.
-
- Sorry if this has aleady been thrashed out before, but here goes anyway.
-
- I just installed a VXL 32 ram board in my A2000. I had to upgrade my rev 1-nn
- VXL 030 bord to the rev 3-nn version. That went ok, no probs.
-
- Everything seemed ok, the extra ram appeared, the machine flew, all that good
- stuff, until I actually tried to load something. What is happening is that
- the system keeps on crashing with a 8000 0001 - 8000 000B error, the value seems
- to change each time I reboot.
-
- So, I disabled the 32bit ram and powered it up. It still crashed with the above
- guru, although it took a little longer.
-
- I managed to get the memory test program running and ran all the tests it let me
- and low and behold the RSCAN test failed misserably with the following errors.
-
- RSCAN error 1 at 8010000 (10000), wrote 0801aaaa, read 0800aaa
- lines:16
- RSCAN error 2 at 8010004 (10004), wrote 0801aaaa, read 0800aaa

- RSCAN error 3 at 8010008 (10008), wrote 0801aaaa, read 0800aaa

- So according to the manual you locate the suspect chip(s) based upon the
- address/line values. I did this and identified two memory chips refered to as
- X:16-19 and Y:16-19. I removed them and swaped them with X:0-3 and Y:0-3 fully
- expecting either the errors to go away or at least the line value to fall
- between 0 and 3. When I ran the test again it still reported the errors on line
- 16, which I spose means the faults are not with the ram chips.
-
- Anyone who knows these VXL beasties have any idea what could be the prob? I'll
- be ringing up the supplier I bought the board from, but I thought I'ld see if
- anyone on the net knows whats going on.
-
- And yes, I tried removing all my personal stuff from the startup-sequence and
- the wbstartup drawer, so it still failed on a standard setup.
-
- I'm running ADOS 2.04 on a A2000 with a GVP Series II SCSI controller.
-
- Thanks in advance
